Gifts for the Art Lover
Honestly, most of these items are on my personal Christmas wishlist so getting to feels like a treat!
howdy, hi and hello, friends! Even though we are deep into the month of December, I am still in disbelief that Christmas and the holiday season is here. I’m not one to usually share gift guides but to celebrate my first year on Substack, I figured this would be the perfect time to share gifts for the art lover in your life.
Admittedly, many of these pieces are on my personal wishlist *shrug* but I do believe these items would make fun gifts and hopefully give you new ideas for the design and art lovers you’re shopping for. So, if you’re like me and still hunting for the perfect gift, let’s look at some beautiful things that would honestly make any art or design or pretty things lover very happy <3
Marble colored pencils (Use BEST24 for 30% off) - Truly because these are beautiful and give you an excuse to doodle, I adore these marbled colored pencils. These would be fun for the artists in your life and non as they could be used to write notes, organize your daily planner, jot down your weekly brain dump, etc. and would look so pretty on a desk in a silver or simple cup. Admittedly, I currently have these in my cart for myself ;)
Face Vessel glasses and vasses - Y’all know I’m a sucker for all types of glassware but since finding these, have been completely obsessed with having them. I don’t think I’ve seen more unique glasses outside of a Murano or another hand blown confetti type glass and these would make the most perfect pretty gift. The brand is still quite small and based in Brooklyn. What I love most about the thought of gifting these is that the recipient will feel like they have a piece of artistry that is unique to them since every glasses is different.
Degournay table book - I kept telling myself I didn’t need this book but now that I have it and probably have spent 12 hours just marveling over the rooms, I truly believe this would make one of the best gifts for the art and design lovers in your life. You can seriously get lost inside this book! In my opinion, Degournay makes some of the most beautiful wallpaper in the world. Yes, i know that is extreme but it is absolutely true! Getting to see over a hundred rooms of wallpaper felt like a true treat. This book would look great on a coffee table, both closed with the cover showing or opened to a page, fitting the style of any home. Plus, if friends are looking for affordable art, there are a ton of full page gorgeous shots that could be easily razored out.
Melting pops resin art - I shared Betsy a few posts ago and felt so lucky to grab a small piece of hers during her studio sale. I think all of her pieces would make great gifts because it’s something your recipient more than likely doens’t have and each piece is 1 of 1. For the indulgent art lovers with space on a mantle or top of a bar or anywhere else with ample height clearance, this stacked melting ice pop art would be perfect. It’s a bit of an investment but this piece is an absolute delight!
Hand painted candles - Goes without saying that I have a bit of an obsession with taper candles (seriously, I have hundreds at this point) so seeing these beauties that are hand painted made my heart happy. Like many others, I would have such a hard time burning these as they would make very pretty mantle or coffee table decor but I know would be even more appreciated when you burn with friends at a dinner party.
Lego Plum Blossom flower - I find all of the lego flowers to be beautiful but this one has to be my favorite. It’s also the flower I’ve seen the least compared to the orchid and bouquet that feels like they are everywhere. As a live flower alternative or something colorful to add to an unexpected space, these lego flowers aren’t only a fun activity to do with your hands but also a pretty art piece to display in the home.
Hand painted vase - I’m a sucker for hand painted anything and since I already have collection of plates and painted glassware, I was on the hunt for something different. This vase is surprisingly affordable and can be used for flowers or as a candle hurricane or a mix of both where you alternate depending on your needs. Dual purpose products FTW!
Paper flowers - I talked about paper flowers in my last post and I’ve now found another company that makes the most beautiful paper flowers and plants. This English daisy pot is the perfect size to go on a bookshelf or side table or desk. It will also last forever and dones’t need water, special light or fertilizer = my type of plant!
Tabletop mobile (members save 20%) - I have no idea why but museum mobiles have been on my mind for a while. I remember watching (and loving) Cynthia Collins house tour on Homeworthy where she had a mix of both tabletop mobiles and hanging. On my last big trip through the South of France, I was on the hunt for a mobile but didn’t have much luck. This one is the perfect mix of pastels and can serve as a pop of color in a neutral room or a complimentary piece in a color-forward space.
Art puzzle - I might be officially #old now that I am recommending a puzzle but y’all, this art piece turned puzzle brings me a lot of joy. I love the artist, Ronald Jackson, but his pieces are incredibly hard to get. Any time he offers a print they are sold-out before the day ends. This puzzle could be another fun activity to do alone or with a loved one then either display on a table or cure and frame as wall art.
Handcrafted earrings - I discovered this brand on Instagram and now have two pair of her earrings. Like the hand painted vase and taper candles, I do love everything and anything hand crafted and unique. These earrings are lightweight, personal and one-of-a-kind. Most of the art lovers I know are also fashionistas and these earrings would be a great addition to their wardrobe.
Well friends, that’s all for today! This post was such a fun way to go through my personal wishlist and think about non-art gifts that I know art lovers would appreciate. I hope you have the best week xo
